Were You Ever Counseled Because Of What You Wore (or didn't)?
by minimus inafter reading the thread about what is acceptable to wear and not wear in a factory run by jehovah's witnesses, i wondered whether any here ever got counseled or in trouble because of their fashion sense or attire.

Was Dostoevsky Correct?
by Rapunzel inthe russian writer, fyodor dostoevsky, once wrote: "if there is no god, everything is permitted.
" in these eight words, dostoevsky encapsulates a complex theological argument, i believe.
of course, these words of his are open to interpretation, and different people will have different opinions and come to various conclusions.

Who are those young JW SKINHEADS ?
by aligot ripounsous inat the latest circuit assembly, i noticed that quite a few young male jws (or at least attending youths), say sixteen upward and mostly mixed race, are skin headed.
apart from that, they are quite well dressed.
that way, elders won't reprove them for their long hair ... looks like an obvious defying message to a rigid organization.

Hair is the least of the world's, and JWs problems.

Whose religion is WORSE than JW's?
by gaiagirl inthought it might be interesting to put a perspective on things.
while many here have had terrible experiences at the hands of jw's and the wtbts, are there religions that you know of which are any worse?
for example, jw's might disfellowship a member who became known as a thief, but they don't chop off your hand.

I hate people that make me feel inferior!
by Princess Daisy Boo ini am generally a confident, happy woman.
i have good friends and family who laugh at my jokes, value my opinions and generally like me... and then once in a while, i come into contact with a person who makes me feel like a nobody.
an overweight, unsuccessful, unintelligent nobody.

People can interject things into our thought processes. We don't control what we think, so much as how we REACT to what we experience, and how we BEHAVE.

I hate the Watchtower but I really still hate the Trinity Jesus is NOT God!
by Witness 007 insome bibles use the term "worship" when refering to jesus...at times people did fall down and bow to him........this doesn't show he was god!
the greek term; proskeyneo, means to prostrate oneself, to bow down and show honour.
now, this was done for jehovah.....and his representatives....jesus israelite kings and priests....but for the honour of jehovah not as creature worship which even angels would refuse.. also i studied the non-biblical early church gospels which really does show a slow decline over 150 years, into the trinity as the watchtower claims...........although i still hate the watchtower society at least i learnt something that wasn't a lie..

As an ex-JW who is a pagan and a natural philosopher, I cannot deny the influence of pagan religion on the early Christian faith (and in later times!), resulting in the Trinity doctrine.
It (the evidence/proof/etc.) is all there. -

Dubs and doorbells -- has there been some "new light"?
by parakeet inthis afternoon my husband looked out the window and saw two unmistakable dubs shuffling up our street.
he didn't have time to warn me before they came to our door (he knows i get a bit testy whenever they visit).
i was in a nearby room, but heard nothing, saw nothing.

My guess is that they will rotate chairmanship, which is common in some business circles, and is what they should have done in the first damn place.

Even before I finished the paragraph, I knew some nepotism (I came up with the malapropism "nephewtism") was involved.
My instant theory: the husband refused to keep the situation quiet, and keep PO son's name half-way clean, and so they trumped up some bullshit on him. The congregation may have done something as simple as announce the disfellowshipping of slutty wife and wayward pastor's son on different days, thereby increasing the likelihood that the rank-and-file would not relate the two incidents. The vocal husband killed that option, and so he was "dealt with." -
